Kemp's Ridley turtles grow to 24-30 inches and weigh from 80-100 pounds. One of the smallest sea turtles, the Kemp's Ridley inhabits waters in the Gulf of Mexico and along the easter U.S. coast. The turtles generally stay in the coastal shallows where they use their strong jaws to eat crabs, shrimp, clams, snails and even jellyfish. Female turtles return to the beaches every 1.5-2 years to lay eggs.
